Die Annual Conference der »European Association for International Education« (EAIE) ist die größte europäische Bildungskonferenz und –messe für den Bereich Hochschulinternationalisierung. Sie fand dieses Jahr bereits zum 32. Mal statt. Vom 13. bis 16. September 2022 trafen sich über 8000 Teilnehmende aus 90 Ländern in Barcelona, tauschten sich mit bestehenden Partnerhochschulen aus, knüpften neue Kontakte und informierten sich über Trends der Internationalisierung und Hochschulpolitik.

Von der Dualen Hochschule Baden-Württemberg reisten Mitarbeitende von allen zwölf Standorten nach Barcelona. Claudia Rzepka, Leiterin des International Office, und Sarah Brucker, Referentin des International Office, vertraten die DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen.

Während der Konferenzwoche mit dem Motto »The future in full colour« führten die Mitarbeiterinnen des International Office Gespräche mit Hochschulen aus den USA, Mexiko, Island, Irland, Großbritannien, Belgien, Frankreich, Spanien, Polen, Ungarn, Rumänien, Taiwan, Australien und Neuseeland, brachten gemeinsame Projekte voran und stärkten die bestehenden Kooperationen. „Für mich war es besonders schön, mich wieder persönlich mit unsere Kolleginnen und Kollegen der ausländischen Partnerhochschulen auszutauschen – nicht wie in den vergangenen Jahren über Zoom, telefonisch oder per E-Mail“, so Rzepka. „Durch die persönlichen Treffen auf der Konferenz wird die Zusammenarbeit in Zukunft sicherlich noch enger“, ergänzt Brucker.

Ein Campusbesuch der Universitat de Girona, einer langjährigen Kooperationspartnerin der DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen, und der traditionelle Empfang der DHBW für ihre Partnerhochschulen bildeten die Highlights der Woche. Bei Letzterem begrüßten Professorin Dr. Martina Klärle, Präsidentin der DHBW, und Professor Dr. Axel Gerloff, Leiter der Auslandskoordination der DHBW, über 100 geladene internationale Gäste aus knapp 30 Ländern.

Die nächste EAIE Konferenz findet vom 26. bis 39. September 2023 in Rotterdam statt.

 

The Annual Conference of the European Association for International Education (EAIE) is the largest European educational conference and exhibition for university internationalization. It was held this year for the 32nd time, with over 8000 participants from 90 countries meeting in Barcelona from September 13th to 16th. There was a lively exchange with existing partner universities, new contacts were cultivated, and participants obtained the latest information on trends in internationalization and university policy.

Employees from twelve Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University locations were in attendance in Barcelona, with Claudia Rzepka, Head of the International Office, and Sarah Brucker, International Relations Coordinator of the International Office, representing the DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen.

The theme was The future in full colour, and the delegates from the International Office enjoyed a week of discussions with universities from the United States, Mexico, Iceland, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Belgium, France, Spain, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Taiwan, Australia and New Zealand, promoting collaborative projects and strengthening existing cooperations. Claudia Rzepka found the occasion extremely positive. “It was particularly nice to meet our colleagues from partner universities abroad again in person,” she noted, “rather than being restricted to contact by Zoom, telephone or email, which was the case in recent years.” Sarah Brucker agreed, noting that “Personal meetings at the conference will certainly contribute to closer contact in future.”

A visit to the campus of the University of Girona, a cooperation partner of the DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen for many years now, and the traditional DHBW reception for its partner universities were the highlights of the week. The latter event saw Dr. Martina Klärle, President of the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University, and Dr. Axel Gerloff, Head of International Coordination at the DHBW, welcome over 100 international guests from around 30 different countries.

The next EAIE Conference will be held from September 26th to 29th 2023 in Rotterdam.
