Strengthening international exchange: Delegation from Hungary visits Duale Hochschule
The DHBW VS is enjoying a long-standing and intensive partnership with the John von Neumann University in Kecskemét, Hungary. The Hungarian university increasingly offers dual study programs and maintains close contacts with the business sector. Since 2022, both universities have been part of the European University EU4Dual. https://www.dhbw.de/die-dhbw/eu4dual The focus of the most recent meeting was discussions about a more intensive collaboration between the two universities.
Vice-Rector Gert Heinrich welcomed József Kárpáti, Dean of the Faculty of Business, and Edina Suba, International Coordinator from the Hungarian partner university. Together with Claudia Rzepka, Sarah Brucker, and Irene Hamacher from the International Office, numerous ideas and proposals were discussed to further deepen intercultural exchange. József Kárpáti provided information about the latest developments at John von Neumann University, particularly highlighting the introduction of three new English-language study programs that successfully launched in September. These programs have not only expanded the educational offerings but also significantly increased the proportion of international students. Thanks to strong connections with the regional business community, the university also offers a variety of internship opportunities. "Our students gain new opportunities for semesters abroad and internships in Hungary through this cooperation," emphasized Claudia Rzepka, head of the International Office at DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen.
The Hungarian guests were impressed by the innovative approaches of the DHBW, particularly the BLIC (Blended Learning International Cooperation) teaching and learning format, which was developed at the study academy in Villingen-Schwenningen. As an additional possibility for closer cooperation, new short programs for students were discussed, aimed at promoting more intensive networking and interdisciplinary exchange. In May, International Coordinator Irene Hamacher accompanied a two-week short-term study program for DHBW students at John von Neumann University. Students from all locations and study areas were able to integrate international experiences into their studies. For the coming year, a program at DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen for Hungarian students is planned.
In addition to promoting student exchange, both universities are interested in expanding academic exchange. The next International Week at DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen in May 2025 offers an ideal opportunity for this, and the guests from Hungary have already marked this date firmly in their calendars. The partnership between DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen and John von Neumann University is a good example of successful collaboration within the European University Alliance EU4Dual, aiming to shape dual education on an international level.
