International Guests begin the Spring Semester

At DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen, a group of international students has started the International Spring Semester. The students come from partner universities in various countries, including Colombia, Rwanda, Jordan, Turkey, and Ukraine, as well as – for the first time – from Savonia University of Applied Sciences in Finland, a partner university within the EU4Dual alliance. Until the end of June, they will take part in academic activities, attend lectures, and explore the region around Villingen-Schwenningen.

The semester began with an orientation phase during which the International Office provided organizational information about studying as well as practical advice on living in Germany. Initial joint activities were also part of the program to help students settle in and to encourage interaction among them.

Throughout the semester, the international guests will attend courses from various fields of study as well as classes specifically designed for the International Semester. In addition, the International Office organizes excursions and leisure activities to offer insights into the local culture and region. Planned activities include a trip to Ludwigsburg and a joint visit to an escape room in Stuttgart.

The students are supported by Irene Hamacher and Sarah Brucker from the International Office, who accompany the group throughout their stay.

“It is always wonderful to see how quickly the international students connect with one another and with our DHBW students,” says Irene Hamacher. “In addition to their academic experience, we would like to introduce them to the region and its culture and ensure they have an all-round positive time at DHBW.”

With the International Spring Semester, DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen continues to strengthen its international partnerships and promote intercultural exchange on campus.

The international focus is also reflected in the new degree program BA–International Business, which will be taught entirely in English and is scheduled to start in the fall. Further information can be found here.
