In the field of international student exchanges, it is often the efforts of certain individuals who serve as catalysts, building and nurturing relationships across great distances. One such person was Wilma Prifti, whose passing has left a deep sense of sorrow.
Helping to build exchanges Wilma was the director of the exchange program between Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, and the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW), formerly the Berufsakademie, in Villingen-Schwenningen. Established in 1980 in collaboration with the university’s founding director, Professor Rudolph Mann, this was the Berufsakademie’s first international exchange program. Since then, more than 500 students have gained valuable hands-on experience through internships in Missouri and Germany.
A unique experience With great dedication, passion, and empathy, Wilma worked tirelessly for the students from Missouri and Germany, helping to make the program a resounding success. She not only organized outstanding internship placements in Missouri, but also found host families who provided the students with an enriching intercultural experience. Many alumni have expressed their deep gratitude for Wilma's efforts. Her motto Be flexible! will remain unforgettable for all those who took part in the program.
Our university mourns the loss of Wilma Prifti, an exceptional and committed individual to whom we owe a great deal. Our thoughts are with her family, and we will cherish Wilma in fond memory.
