Erasmus+ Staff Weeks are a popular opportunity for administrative and academic staff at European higher education institutions to visit partner institutions and strengthen international contacts. At this year’s staff week “HOGENT Week Without Borders” in Ghent at the end of March 2026, Prof. Dr. Clemens Wangler took part as a representative of DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen.
As part of the “HOGENT Week Without Borders”, Prof. Dr. Wangler delivered lectures on the European tax system and the impact of taxes on investment decisions for students enrolled in the Accountancy and Taxation programs at HOGENT. He was able to demonstrate to the students the relevance of tax-related issues and engage in in-depth discussions with them during the lectures.
During the additional program elements of the staff week, Prof. Dr. Wangler was also able to network with professors from various countries who likewise took part in the “HOGENT Week Without Borders”. A particular highlight was the guided tour of the university’s own brewery in Ghent, which was offered as part of the social program.
DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen has maintained an Erasmus+ partnership with HOGENT in Ghent, Belgium, for more than 15 years. Through the EU program for the promotion of education, youth and sport, study and training periods abroad within Europe for students as well as for administrative and academic staff at participating higher education institutions can receive financial support. Erasmus+ Staff Weeks sind eine beliebte Möglichkeit für Mitarbeitende und Lehrende europäischer Hochschulen, Partnerhochschulen zu besuchen und Kontakte im Ausland zu festigen. An der diesjährigen Staff Week „HOGENT Week Without Borders“ in Gent Ende März 2026 nahm Prof. Dr. Clemens Wangler als Vertreter der DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen teil.
Im Rahmen der „HOGENT Week Without Borders“ hielt Prof. Dr. Wangler Vorlesungen zum europäischen Steuersystem sowie zum Einfluss von Steuern auf Investitionsentscheidungen für Studierende der Studiengänge Accountancy and Taxation der HOGENT. Dabei konnte er die Studierenden von der Relevanz steuerlicher Fragestellungen überzeugen und sich im Rahmen der Vorlesungen intensiv mit ihnen austauschen.
Während der weiteren Programmpunkte der Staff Week konnte sich Prof. Dr. Wangler zudem mit Professor*innen aus verschiedenen Ländern vernetzen, die ebenfalls an der „HOGENT Week Without Borders“ teilnahmen. Ein Höhepunkt war die Führung durch die hochschuleigene Brauerei in Gent, die als Teil des Rahmenprogramms angeboten wurde.
Die DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen unterhält seit über 15 Jahren eine Erasmus+ Kooperation mit der HOGENT in Gent, Belgien. Über das EU-Programm zur Förderung von Bildung, Jugend und Sport können europaweite Auslandsaufenthalte von Studierenden sowie Mitarbeitenden und Lehrenden teilnehmender Hochschulen und Universitäten finanziell unterstützt werden.
