Das International Office der DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen pflegt einen intensiven Austausch mit über 50 Partnerhochschulen und -universitäten weltweit. Zu Beginn des International Semesters Anfang September begrüßte das Team elf internationale Studierende, die in den kommenden vier Monaten ihr Auslandssemester an der DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen absolvieren.

Die Studierenden trafen aus Frankreich, Jordanien, Kolumbien und Thailand ein. Von Anfang September bis Ende Dezember nehmen sie am regulären Studienbetrieb der DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen teil, legen Prüfungen ab und erweitern ihre Deutschkenntnisse in intensiven Sprachkursen. Sechs der Studierenden werden im Anschluss noch ein zweites Semester in Deutschland verbringen – zwei Studierende aus Frankreich besuchen ein weiteres Theoriesemester an der DHBW und vier Studierende aus Jordanien absolvieren ein Praxissemester in einem Unternehmen.

„Wir freuen uns, wieder motivierte, junge Gaststudierende an unserer Hochschule begrüßen zu dürfen“, berichtet Claudia Rzepka, Leiterin des International Office der DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen. „In der Orientierungswoche legen wir einen wichtigen Grundstein für das bevorstehende Semester und bereiten die internationalen Studierenden auf das Studium und das Leben in Deutschland vor.“ Sarah Brucker, Referentin des International Office, stellte ein informatives und vielseitiges Programm für die erste Woche zusammen. Darunter Campusführungen, Ausflüge nach Villingen und Schwenningen, den Besuch der Burg Hohenzollern und ein erstes Kennenlernen mit den Studierenden des International Club der DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen.

Weitere Ausflüge sind über das Semester verteilt geplant, wie eine Fahrt zum Europa-Parlament in Straßburg, eine Firmenbesichtigung oder Messebesuche.

Auch in diesem Semester wird die Vorlesungsreihe »Current topics with international lecturers« angeboten, welche über das Programm HAW.International organisiert wird. „Dazu begrüßen wir Lehrbeauftragte und Dozierende unserer Partnerhochschulen in Jordanien und Tschechien, die ihr Wissen zu den Themen »Cultural Intelligence«, »Cultural Awareness«, »Business Ethics« und »Corporate Governance« teilen. Alle Studierende der DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen sind zu dieser Vorlesungsreihe im Oktober und November herzlich eingeladen“, so Rzepka. The International Office of the DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen promotes an intensive exchange with over 50 higher education institutions and universities around the world. To mark the start of the International Semester in September, the team welcomed eleven international students who will complete their international semester at the DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen over the coming months.

The students arrived from France, Jordan, Colombia and Thailand, and they will partake in regular studies at the DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen from the beginning of September to the end of December, sitting examinations and broadening their knowledge of German in intensive language courses. Six of the students will subsequently spend a second semester in Germany, with two students from France attending a further theoretical semester at the DHBW and four from Jordan completing a placement semester in a company.

“We’re delighted to host young, motivated students again at our university,” related Claudia Rzepka, Head of the International Office at the DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen. “The orientation week lays an important foundation for the semester, preparing the international students for their studies and living in Germany.” Sarah Brucker, International Relations Coordinator of the International Office, compiled an informative and extremely varied program for the initial week. This included tours of the campus, trips to Villingen and Schwenningen, a visit to Burg Hohenzollern castle and a chance to get to know the students in the International Club at the DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen.

Other excursions are planned over the semester, including a visit to the European Parliament in Strasbourg, a tour of a company and visits to trade fairs.

The Current topics with international lecturers lecture series, organized through the HAW.International program, will also be available in this semester. “We’ll be welcoming lecturers from our partner universities in Jordan and the Czech Republic to share their knowledge in the areas of Cultural Intelligence, Cultural Awareness, Business Ethics, and Corporate Governance. All students at the DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen are invited to attend this lecture series in October and November,” said Claudia Rzepka.
