Added value through networking

Each campus of the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University has its particular strengths. Teaching in the area of auditing is a major subject of focus at the DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen. This began more than 30 years ago with the Taxation & Auditing study programme, and students can today avail of three differentiated and unique study courses.

Auditing

2010 saw the launch of the Auditing study programme, with general auditing being separated from "Taxation" studies. This addresses the diverse development of auditing and tax consultant professions. Courses were expanded in October 2011 with the specialisation subject “Business Processes/IT” to cover the growing demand for IT auditors.

Auditing in Credit Institutions

With its Auditing in Credit Institutions specialisation subject, the Banking and Building Societies study programme addresses the need for specialisation in auditing. For example, in addition to general auditing principles, auditing of credit institutions requires an understanding of business strategies and processes and comprehensive knowledge of regulatory requirements.

IT Risk Management  / IT Auditing

The development of information technology as a core process in an enterprise is growing in importance. This demands a particular understanding of the IT infrastructure, IT applications and IT security and the legal environment in areas such as data security. This is why the Business Information Systems study programme offers the specialisation subject IT Risk Management / IT Auditing.

A strong partner

With these three study courses, more than 20 full-time or part-time auditors as lecturers and over 100 students specialising in fields relating to auditing, the Cooperative State University is a strong partner when it comes to the acquisition and training of up-and-coming talent in the area of auditing. Particular attention is giving in the Competence Centre to the close interlinking of theory and practice, creating the platform for an intensive dialogue, the bundling of knowledge, congresses, collaborative publications and other projects.

Bundling of knowledge in auditing

The Cooperative State University is continually expanding the Competence Centre for Auditing to promote positive development. Three study programmes offer the chance for specialisation in auditing:

  • Banking and Building Societies - Specialisation in auditing of credit institutes
  • Auditing - IT auditing specialisation subject
  • Business Information Systems - IT risk management / IT auditing
