Familiengerechte DH

Family-friendly university audit

The DHBW VS has been certified as a family-friendly university since May 2012, with the university being awarded the “audit familiengerechte hochschule” certificate in recognition of this. “audit familiengerechte hochschule” is a recognised management tool which evaluates family-friendly universities.
The certificate was awarded to the Equal Opportunities Officer, Prof. Brigitte Reinbold, in Berlin by the Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, Peter Hintze, and the Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, Dr. Hermann Kues.

The required target agreements were developed by a working group headed by former DHBW President Ulrich Sommer and Prof. Brigitte Reinbold. These encompass a concept which makes it easier for staff to reconcile family and professional life. The opening of a day-care facility for children in conjunction with the universities in Villingen-Schwenningen represented an initial step. The university is supported in this respect by the “beruf und familie” association for work and family.

The »audit beruf und familie« is an initiative of the non-profit Hertie Foundation which evaluates conditions relating to work and family life. This audit has also been offered to universities since 2002 under the title »audit familiengerechte hochschule«.

The DHBW VS set itself the goal in the context of certification of establishing family-friendly studying and working structures. Existing measures such as flexible office hours for students, the expansion of eLearning and blended learning (more information in flyer on right) have been supplemented by new initiatives such as the development of health care management, information events such as Care & Family (Pflege & Familie) and the Dual Career approach.
